After-School Childminder Job Summary: We seek a responsible and caring individual to help our family as an after-school childcare. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of children after school hours between 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The ideal person will create a nurturing and stimulating environment, supervise activities, assist with homework, and foster positive relationships with children and parents/guardians. Responsibilities: Supervise Children: Oversee children's activities and behaviour in your care, ensuring their safety at all times. Homework Assistance: Assist children with homework assignments, providing guidance and support as needed. Engagement and Activities: Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to keep children entertained and engaged. Nutritional Support: Prepare and serve snacks to children, ensuring they can access nutritious food. Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's daily activities, achievements, and concerns. Conflict Resolution: Handle conflicts or disagreements between children calmly and constructively, promoting positive social interactions. First Aid and Safety: Be prepared to administer basic first aid if necessary and follow safety protocols in emergencies. Transportation: Safely escort children to and from school or extracurricular activities, if required. Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience working with children in a childcare and special needs setting is preferred. Education: Coursework or certification in childhood education or a related field is a plus. CPR/First Aid Certification: Possess current CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain it. Reliability: Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance, as consistent availability during after-school hours is essential. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Patience and Empathy: Exhibit patience, understanding, and empathy when dealing with children's needs and emotions. Organisation: Ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and maintain a structured environment for children. Schedule and Compensation: This position is part-time and typically involves weekday afternoons, with the possibility of additional hours on school holidays or during breaks. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
